I recently received an exciting email from Cary Komoto, the Dean of STEM, informing me that students now have access to the wonderful equipment in S1322 including the 3D Printer, laser cutter/engraver and Vynil cutter!
If you are interested in using any of these awesome (expensive) pieces of machinery, please adhere to the following basic equipment rules:
· For access to this equipment we would prefer that club members use the open lab times which are Tuesday from 3 pm to 5 pm and Thursday 8 am to 10 am.
· Note Twin Cities Engineering students, and students in Normandale engineering classes such as Intro to Engineering Design will have priority in terms of access to this equipment.
· Users will have to read and sign off on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for each piece of equipment he/she wishes to use.
· For the laser engraver/cutter, users should provide their own appropriate material.
· For the 3D printer, a user may send a job to Rich (richard.amy@normandale.edu) to have printed.
· Please restrict use of the 3D printer to projects that have some educational value, because the printer material is not free.
· Users should log in their use of any equipment.
Finally, Rich Amy and Jami Viergets are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of this equipment, so any user is expected to follow their directions and they reserve the right to prevent any user from equipment if they deem the user may pose a safety risk or may pose a damage risk.
Questions? Let me know.
Cary
