This took me about 12 hours to create. I believe it is very strong and lightweight. Please look at my final assembly below and give me some feedback. imgur.com/uoDyOzN

Looks awesome. What is the diameter of the motor mount, 28mm?

I have no idea how much the laser is going to burn off from the holes so it might be off by a half mm. I consider this to be part of the learning process so we can always create a new part. I managed to figure out the weight of the frame and it is 176 grams. The arms are 13 inches long and I think the base is around 4 inches long/wide. This frame can allow for some massive propellers. I still need to come up some landing gear but I think ill copy this design, notice the springs. www.singahobby.com/files/images/Quadrocopter-3.jpg

We can always not carve the mounts with the laser and instead drill it out and reinforce the mounts with a small aluminium plate. What are your estimated prop sizes?

I designed the frame to handle prop sizes ranging from 9 inches to a foot. I think we should go with 11 inches because there will be more space between the propellers. I think we should laser cut an arm assembly on Tuesday and glue it together. That way on Wednesday, we can to a destructive test to see how much weight the arm can hold. I am wondering if more reinforcement is going to be needed but there is only one way to find out for sure.

Just letting you guys know, we are going to try to get a model of the quadcopter frame by the meeting tomorrow. Are new design will be based from this www.instructables.com/id/Laser-Cut-MultiWii-based-quadcopter/ due to the fact that I feel that my frame design is not rigid enough. I plan on having some destructive testing later this week so we can start improving this design and start planning the rest of the quadcopter. Josh might bring wood in tomorrow to laser cut but if he can't get a hold of anything we will cut the thing out of cardboard to at least have something. If anybody has any questions about anything, feel free to ask because I want to answer your questions. Don't feel that your question is not important because we all have are moments. Last weekend I spent 12 hours designing a frame and I made the frame way too large (more like 4 times as large as I should have). I am prone to make mistakes because of my dyslexia and it helps when I have people working with me because they can point out stupid mistakes that are overlooked. I know the quadcopter can be built if we work together, we all have are strengths and weaknesses. If anybody finds an error in my logic, please call me out on it. Making mistakes is an important part of the learning process.
